Anna's zeal for improving the voices and communication style of professionals arose from her career as a singing coach in New York City. One day a businessman approached her and told her he was getting talked over in meetings and was concerned about his career prospects. Could she help him?

Bernstein took up the challenge and founded her communications coaching business, originally called Voice Success, in 1993. She applied her singing techniques to the speaking voice, augmenting these voice techniques with the neuroscience research of how the brain influences the voice.

Anna’s years in business—as a stockbroker at Smith Barney, as a professional singing and voice-training coach and as a performer herself in Off- and Off-Off Broadway shows—provided the natural foundation for working with and training corporate executives, employees, salespeople and those who speak to the media.

In 2003 Anna moved to Seattle and rechristened her business The Brain-Voice Connection.

Bernstein instructs and coaches professionals in speech improvement, business presentations, leadership skills and media training. She also teaches accent reduction because she found that many of her clients were unsure how their backgrounds influenced their corporate success.

Fear of public speaking is another hurdle that Anna teaches executives and professionals to overcome, using her background in stage to teach specific methods for conquering fear of speaking in public.
